PRE - CONTRACT

DRAFT and REVISION

Establishing EIR, Risk Matrix, PQQ’s, BEP and
BIM requirements for requests and proposals

Risk Matrix
Understanding the risks that a BIM project could involve.

EIR - Exchange Information Requirements

The Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) define the
information that is required by the employer from both
their internal team as well as from the suppliers for the
development of their project and the execution of the
completed built asset.

PQQ - Pre-Qualification Questions

A Pre-Qualification Questionnaire sets out a series of
questions for potential tenders to answer regarding the
level of experi- ence, capacity and financial standing.
The answers to these ques- tions enable the client to
produce a short list of suppliers that are most likely to be
the most appropriate for the project.
PAS 91 is the UK or British Standard developed in the UK
to support pre-qualification.

BEP - BIM Execution Plan

The Pre-contract BEP is a response to the EIR and AIR in
the tender pack. It should be produced to mitigate risk
of the BIM delivery team once appointed.

At this stage the BEP should include:

- A response to requirements of the EIR
- A Project Implementation Plan (PIP) setting out
competence, capability and experience of potential
suppliers to bidding for the project.
- Targets for collaboration and information modelling
- Project milestones
- Project Implementation Plan (PIM) Strategy

CONTRACT

DRAFT and REVISION

Establishing Risk Matrix, BEP, MIDP and
BIM requirements for requests and proposals.

Risk Matrix
Understanding the risks that a BIM project could involve.

BEP - BIM Execution Plan

The contract BEP will develop in detail over time as
more members of the supply chain are appointed.

It should include:
- Details of Management Planning and Documentation
- Methods and Procedures
- MIDP
- MPDT

MIDP - Model Information Delivery Plan

The MIDP is developed from a series of Task Information
Delivery Plans (TIDP) for the project prepared by individual
task team managers and setting out the responsibility for
each specific information deliverable. It compares the
separate task information delivery plans and aligns them
with the design and construction program.

MPDT - Model Production and Delivery Table

The MPDT identifies the originator for each model and the
Level Of Detail (LOD) it should have reached at different
stages of the project.

POST - CONTRACT

Reviewing Risk Matrix, BEP, MIDP, MDPT, CIC and
BIM requirements for requests and proposals.

BEP - BIM Execution Plan

The post-contract BEP will develop in detail over time as
more members of the supply chain are appointed.

It should include:
- Details of Management Planning and Documentation

MIDP - Model Information Delivery Plan

The MIDP is developed from a series of Task Information

with the design and construction program.

MPDT - Model Production and Delivery Table

The MPDT identifies the originator for each model and the
Level Of Detail (LOD) it should have reached at different
stages of the project. It is an appendix to the
Construction Industry Council’s (CIC) BIM protocol.
The CIC BIM protocol can be adopted on projects that use
BIM to define specific obligations and liabilities, and to set
out limitations placed on the agreed use of the model.
